Holy City Hospitality and Trident Technical College Established the Chef Shane Memorial Scholarship

Holy City Hospitality and Trident Technical College recently announced the establishment of the Chef Shane Memorial Scholarship, which was created in memory of Shane Whiddon, the executive chef at Virginia’s on King who was shot and killed by a disgruntled employee on August 24th, 2017.

The two organizations hope this scholarship will keep Chef Widdon’s “passion for cooking alive while supporting aspiring culinary students at the Culinary Institute of Charleston at Trident Technical College.”

The Chef Shane Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student pursuing culinary studies at Trident. The scholarship recipient, chosen by the college’s Scholarship Committee, will receive up to $1,000 a semester for up to four semesters.

During the month of August, a portion of the restaurant’s sales will be donated to the Chef Shane Memorial Scholarship Fund. To learn more about the scholarship, click here­.
