Foxbank Plantation Welcomes Finished Elementary School and Beginning of Community Fire Department

Foxbank Ventures, the developers responsible for Foxbank Plantation in Moncks Corner, provided the land for two projects for the master-planned community last year. Two parcels of land are serving as the site for the Foxbank Elementary School, which will open next week for the 2018-2019 school year, and the Foxbank Plantation fire station, which is under construction.

Foxbank Ventures, which is a partnership between Chesapeake Capital Partners and The Randolph Group, donated 10.86 acres to the Berkeley County School District for the construction of the Foxbank Elementary School. The value of the donated property is estimated at $1.5 million.

“We are super excited about the opening,” said Natalie Lockliear, principal of Foxbank Elementary School. “The school building is beautiful and we can’t wait to get our staff and students moved in to embark on a new school year.”

Construction for the elementary school began last year and the official ribbon-cutting will take place this Sunday, August 19. The school site is centrally located within the Foxbank Plantation community, located at the corner of Highway 52 and Cypress Gardens Road between Goose Creek and Moncks Corner.

The initial enrollment for the first day of school is right around 750 students. Currently, the number of teachers slated to teach at Foxbank Elementary is approximately 45. Additional staff will be added as the school needs are determined. On average, the Berkeley County School District has implemented a 25:1 ratio of students to teachers for second through fifth grade, an 18:1 ratio of students to teachers for first grade, and a 24:1 ratio of students to teacher and assistant in kindergarten. In addition to their academic classes, students will have the opportunity to explore art, music, physical education, dance, band and news with the Foxbank News Show.

“This elementary school has been a key part of Foxbank’s master plan since the community’s inception,” explained Jeff Randolph, president of The Randolph Group. “With a majority of the enrolled students coming from Foxbank Plantation, we are excited that this will be a true community school that will help educate and inspire children for generations to come.”

Additionally, another 1.25 acres of land was transferred to the Town of Moncks Corner for the Foxbank Plantation fire station, which will be adjacent to the school. The official groundbreaking for the station was held earlier this summer.

“Once complete, the fire station in Foxbank will serve as the cornerstone for public safety services not only in Foxbank but in much of the surrounding area as well,” said Moncks Corner Mayor Michael Lockliear.

“The Town of Moncks Corner originally approached us about providing a site for a fire station that would serve both Foxbank Plantation and the surrounding growth areas of Moncks Corner,” said Matt Brunner, president of Chesapeake Capital. “I am excited that we were able to incorporate this site in our master plan and we see it as an added amenity to our community residents.”
