Patriots Point Naval & Maritime museum announces a $5,000 donation from AT&T to the USS Yorktown Foundation for scholarships to provide underserved students with opportunities to experience STEM-based educational programs aboard the USS Yorktown.

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum’s Institute of History, Science and Technology offers students one of the most unique and educational experiences in the country. Curriculums are developed around South Carolina public education standards that immerse children in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The AT&T donation will provide the chance for up to 500 underserved students to visit Patriots Point.

“AT&T has long been committed to supporting education and America’s veterans, both central to the mission of the USS Yorktown Foundation,” said Jack Mitchell, regional director of external affairs for AT&T South Carolina. “By helping support the STEM-based education experiences and the ‘living history’ resources of Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, the Foundation is making a difference for students’ futures while honoring members of the armed forces who have given so much for this country. We are pleased to support that work and all those who are affiliated with ‘The Fighting Lady’.”

More than 40,000 children participate annually in programs offered by Patriots Point’s Institute of History, Science and Technology. In addition to a teaching a STEM-based curriculum, the department focuses on career building and workforce development.
