Healthy Tri-County Partners with County Library Systems for Unnatural Causes Screenings

In honor of Health Literacy Month, Healthy Tri-County has teamed up with Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Public Library Systems to host a screenings of the documentary Unnatural Causes at nine different libraries across the Tri-County region. 

Unnatural Causes is a seven-part documentary series that premiered nationally on PBS in Spring 2008. It explores the apparent link between a person’s health and his social, economic, and physical environments, which can affect one’s health and longevity as strongly as better-known factors such as smoking, diet, and exercise.

The screenings kick off with opportunities at Hanahan Library on Monday, October 8th at 10 am, run through the month of October, culminating in the final showing on Monday, October 29th at 2 pm at the Summerville Branch of the Dorchester Public Library.

Healthy Tri-County is a regional health initiative powered by MUSC Health, Roper St. Francis Healthcare, and Trident United Way. Healthy Tri-County currently has more than 60 formal member organizations from business, government and nonprofit sectors. The health initiative will release its Tri-County Health Improvement Plan at its second annual Tri-County Health Symposium on October 30th. All three county library systems are formal members of Healthy Tri-County.
