Local Subways & Lowcountry Food Bank to Serve People in Need for World Sandwich Day

Published

on

In celebration of World Sandwich Day 2018, Subway restaurants and food banks in the Feeding America network across the Carolinas and Augusta, Ga., have joined together to feed 2,018 people in need.

Locally, Subway team members in Charleston will provide more than 400 subs to people served by the Lowcountry Food Bank’s Fresh For All mobile produce distribution. The sandwiches will be transported on November 3rd in a World Sandwich Day vehicle to the event at Haut Gap Middle School on Johns Island.

Nationally, between November 3rd and 9th, Subway restaurants will donate one meal to Feeding America for every order placed online or using the Subway App.

Approximately 17 percent of the local population struggle with hunger; many of whom turn to Lowcountry Food Bank and its partner agencies for relief. The number of families needing assistance increases as the holiday season approaches and local soup kitchens and food pantries turn to the community for support.
