Poogan’s Smokehouse to Host Charity Dinner at New Outdoor Event Venue

On Sunday, November 11th, Poogan’s Smokehouse hosts FLOMO (Florence Mitigation Operation) to raise funds for Operation BBQ Relief, a non-profit organization that mobilizes to feed people in need and emergency personnel following natural disasters. The event will take place at Charleston Woodlands, a brand new, outdoor event venue located at 4279 Ashley River Road.

Poogan’s Hospitality Group chef/partner Daniel Doyle volunteered with Operation BBQ Relief in September in eastern North Carolina, the area impacted by Hurricane Florence. With FLOMO, he and Poogan’s Hospitality Group will help the organization continue its work.

“As a native of North Carolina, I felt compelled to do something after seeing the damage
and devastation Hurricane Florence caused in that region,” Doyle said. “I got in touch with operation BBQ Relief and spent several days making and delivering meals. It was an amazing operation, and while I can’t be a part of it all the time, I want to continue helping.”

Doors to the local event will open at 10 am for kayaking, fishing, and other outdoor recreational activities. Poogan’s Smokehouse will serve a barbecue picnic from noon to 6 pm, and One Americana and Michael Freund Band will provide live music.

Tickets are $15 for adults and available now at www.charlestonwoodlands.com. Children under 12 receive free admission.

Guests are also invited to camp overnight at Charleston Woodlands on November 10th and 11th for a cost of $35 for one night, or $50 for two, with the price for camping including the barbecue picnic. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Operation BBQ Relief.
