The Undergarment Society Launches “Bus Box” Campaign
The Undergarment Society, a nonprofit that collects new bras and underwear for girls and women escaping domestic violence, homelessness, trafficking, poverty, and other unsafe conditions, has announced “The Bus Box,” a collection campaign running through December 31st.
This summer, the Joanna Foundation granted the organization $10,000 towards the US BUS, a mobile donation center. A mobile donation center will reach more rural and under served communities in South Carolina, as well as allow for better control over inventory and distribution. Fitted to resemble a boutique, the US Bus will have the added benefit of giving those it serves with a dignified experience.
The Bus Box, The Undergarment Society’s campaign, aims to raise an additional $10,000 for the US Bus. The Undergarment Society has 100 gift boxes to distribute to interested businesses and individuals throughout the Lowcountry. The Holiday Season is a time for family and friends to gather and give thanks. Calendars fill up fast with work parties, cocktail hours, and fetes of all kinds. Participants are asked to pass the box around during the holiday season, let the kids drop in quarters, and ask guests to contribute in the spirit of the giving season.
If you are interested in participating, contact The Undergarment Society’s Elizabeth Stribling at 843-442-5280 or via e-mail at Undergarmentsociety@gmail.com.
Since March 2017, The Undergarment Society has donated over 6,000 new undergarments through its “Party with A Purpose” model, providing dignity to the Lowcountry’s most vulnerable citizens.
