Donate2It and Housing For All – Mount Pleasant Start Partnership on #GivingTuesday
Press Release
As the season of giving arrives, Donate2it, a crowdfunding platform for Lowcountry charities, individuals, and humanitarian causes, is celebrating #GivingTuesday on November 27th by kicking off a campaign to match funds up to $10,000 for Housing For All – Mount Pleasant. The recently established 501(c)(3) organization is seeking to encourage and support the development of attainable housing for those who work, live, or hope to live, in Mount Pleasant.
Now open for online donations, contributions made via Donate2it through December 31st will be matched to Housing for All, which seeks to foster attainable housing options throughout Mount Pleasant, including a mix of well-built single-family homes, townhome-style dwellings and apartments.
“By hosting a variety of causes and nonprofits like Housing For All in one place, our goal is to not only raise dollars, but garner awareness for community issues that matter most,” said Donate2it founder Steve Dudash. “We’re delighted to use #GivingTuesday as a launch pad and extend the reach of donations. We hope the community will join us in making Mount Pleasant a better place.”
“The Town of Mount Pleasant is facing a severe shortage of attainable housing options that is impacting municipal public servants, young professionals, seniors and native/long-time residents,” said Housing for All – Mount Pleasant board chairman Benjy Cooke. “The inability of these groups to secure housing in Mount Pleasant presents challenges to the town – from increased traffic brought on by long commutes to an unraveling of community fabric when lifelong residents are priced out of their homes and more. Beginning on Giving Tuesday, we can take a step in addressing this issues.”
Funds raised through the Donate2it and Housing For All – Mount Pleasant partnership will be used to support the steps necessary to plan for and bring an attainable housing project to fruition.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on Nov. 27 and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
