Hootie & the Blowfish Announce New Album and 2019 Tour

Iconic pop-rock band Hootie & the Blowfish appeared on NBC’s TODAY this morning to announce a highly anticipated return to full-time touring in 2019, as well as the release of a forthcoming sixth studio album. The South Carolina foursome will set out on the 44-city Group Therapy Tour in the spring and summer of 2019 with direct support from special guests Barenaked Ladies.

Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, Darius Rucker, and Jim “Soni” Sonefeld formed Hootie & the Blowfish during their time as students at the University of South Carolina, and they will appropriately wrap their comeback tour in Columbia on Friday, September 13th.

The 2019 Group Therapy Tour does not include a Charleston show, but there are several performances nearby:

• 5/31/19 – Raleigh
• 6/1/19 – Atlanta
• 9/5/19 – Charlotte
• 9/13/19 – Columbia

In addition to hitting the road on the Group Therapy Tour in 2019, the band will also release a forthcoming sixth studio album under new label home Universal Music Group Nashville as their debut Cracked Rear View celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Cracked Rear View, certified by the RIAA as 21x Platinum and the fifth-most certified studio album of all time, marked the beginning of a whirlwind of success for the two-time GRAMMY winners who have gone on to sell over 25 million albums and notch 17 Billboard-charting songs to date.

In the 10+ year break since their last formal tour, and nearly 15 years since their last studio album as a band, lead singer Darius Rucker began a solo career that charted nine No. 1 singles on Country radio. Despite this break, Hootie & the Blowfish performed together sporadically and continued to hold their annual HomeGrown concert performance and fundraiser each summer on Daniel Island.

The two-time Grammy nominee Barenaked Ladies are best known for their hit singles “One Week” and “Pinch Me.”
