Taste of Folly Returns to the Edge of America this Month

The 2019 Taste of Folly Festival will be held on Friday, January 18th and Saturday, January 19th. weekend out on the Edge of America. The event will showcase everything “Folly” with a focus on the eclectic culinary scene. 

Here’s a look at the this year’s event schedule:

Friday, January 18th

  • 7 pm – 10 pm: Cannon Distillery Cocktail Competition
    • Taste craft cocktails made by the Folly restaurants and bars and vote for your favorite. $20 admission to the event, which includes a
    • Tickets are $20
      • Free sample of all cocktails
      • Must be 21 and over to attend the event

Saturday, January 19th

  • 10 am – 4 pm: Street Festival on Center Street
    • The streets will close at 7 am and reopen at 6:30 pm
    • Admission is $5 – purchase in advance or pay at the door.
      • Folly residents (must show valid drivers license) and kids 12 and under are free
    • Specials
      • $5 Deep Eddy Vodka cocktails at all of the participating restaurants
    • Cooking Demonstrations
      • Select restaurants will have live demonstrations at their booths throughout the day
    • Hot Dog Eating Contest
      • On the Ashley stage starting at 1 pm
      • Free to enter, sign up in advance Bert’s Market or the day of the event
      • Prizes given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners
    • Chili Cook Off
      • Features individuals from around the region
      • Running from 11 am to 3 pm on Center Street while supplies last
      • $5 per person to taste and vote
      • $20 to enter the Open division
      • Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
    • Oyster Shucking Contest
      • Starting at 2:30 pm on the Ashley Stage
    • Server Olympics
      • Folly waiters will perform their customary duties while going through obstacle courses
      • Several heats will be scheduled throughout the day
      • Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
    • Live Music
      • Three stages showcasing Folly musicians at Ashley, East Erie, and Huron
    • Kids Area
      • Kids Kitchen by Good Clean Fun with Pots & Pans Percussion, Soapy Sudsy Kitchen, and pasta making
      • Free inflatables
      • Culinary-inspired arts and crafts with the Folly Beach Library

For everyone’s safety animals, coolers, bikes, skateboards, scooters or similar items will not be permitted into the event. Large bags and backpacks are subject to search.
