James Island Oyster Roast and Chili Cook off to Benefit Camp Happy Days
The James Island Vikings, a local charitable group, have announced that their annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, January 26th. The 9th Annual Bo Roast and Chili Cook off will take place at Smoky Oak Taproom from noon to 5 pm. The event will benefit Camp Happy Days, an organization for children across South Carolina with cancer.
“We are thrilled to be able to give back to this wonderful organization for another year,” James Island Vikings member Michael Ivie said. “Last year we raised over $21,000 and we hope to surpass that at this year’s event. Camp Happy Days’ one week summer camp is a time for children fighting cancer to play and create friendships and memories that last a lifetime, without any financial responsibilities.”
Participants can join the chili cook off for $25 per team or $50 per restaurant. Awards for Individual/Team, Restaurant and People’s Choice will be presented at 5 pm. The team who collects the most donations at their booth will be awarded “People’s Choice.”
Tickets are $10 for general admissions, or $30 for VIP that includes all-you-can-eat oysters and drinks. There will also be live music, food and drinks for kids, and a jump castle. Donations can also be made through their GoFundMe account.
