Press Release

What happens when a talented  interior designer buys something fabulous … but it just doesn’t work in the space? (This never happens on HGTV, but in real life?). Old answer: The designer’s friends and family luck out. Better solution: The designer sells the item at SCORE. To-the-trade décor, priced gently, available to you. Who just SCORE’d?

SCORE, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League’s chic pop up shop, will be open for business at the exclusive Preview Party on March 26 and then open to the general public on March 27 and run through April 28 at the 42nd annual Symphony Designer Showhouse at 16 Rutledge Avenue. SCORE selections are carefully curated, with  more than 20 sophisticated partners presenting very special merchandise.

Karen Thompson, Co-Chair of SCORE, comments: “SCORE is a refreshing retail approach for the Designer Showhouse. We’re excited about our new pop up shop that will feature edited collections with a unique point of view that are available for a limited time. SCORE sells new, vintage, and noteworthy items which aren’t available everywhere else.”

Jodie-Beth Galos, SCORE Co-Chair, adds, “Our designers provide a trove of décor inspiration; SCORE is an extension of the taste levels in the Showhouse.” She notes that Charleston artisans will also be providing items for sale: exquisite linens, local honey and dried mushrooms, tempting ceramics, Easter-ready hats and fascinators, handmade children’s clothing, elegant French and Italian gifts and lots of smart jewelry. SCORE contains tomorrow’s heirlooms, today.”

SCORE is open 7 days a week, Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday 1 pm to 4 pm. A ticket to the Designer Showhouse isn’t necessary to enter SCORE, and repeat visits are encouraged to visit the charming garden café as well as to take advantage of SCORE’s rapidly changing inventory.

Purchases at SCORE help keep the music alive: Profits are donated to the Charleston Symphony and Charleston Symphony Orchestra League music education initiatives. Do good and do well at SCORE.
