The Charleston food and beverage community is holding an online fundraiser to support Keith Purdy, a beloved staple in the Lowcountry food and beverage community. The money raised through the fundraiser will help cover medical bills and living expenses incurred during Purdy’s years-long battle with life threatening brain masses.

Owner of Southern Bartender, Purdy has been mixing drinks for the Charleston community for decades. As a certified TIPs trainer, he has trained countless mixologists in town. If you don’t know him or recognize his “Mr. Pringle” mustache, you’ve probably been to a dozen events he’s catered.

“Keith has been a huge part of the Charleston food and beverage community for decades,” says local restaurateur and past president of the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, Steve Carroll. “We have all trained under him. You can’t help but to absorb his enthusiasm for hospitality. He’s a great friend and this community is prepared to do anything we can to support him.”

Over the past three years Purdy has been battling major health issues. Recently, things took a turn for the worse and put him back into the hospital for 10+ days with a long rehab to follow. He is also in danger of losing his home due to the sale of the property and without immediate help, he will be forced to move in the midst of this critical health crisis.

To ease the burden of health costs and secure Purdy’s home to ensure that he’ll have a place to return to while he battles for his life, the food and beverage community is asking for donations to his GoFundMe page.
