Cougars Fall to CSU in Midweek Matchup

Charleston Southern scored five runs in the fourth to break a scoreless tie, and held the College of Charleston to one run on six hits in a 9-1 win over the Cougars on Wednesday evening at CSU Ballpark.
Charleston Southern (6-12) pushed across five runs in the fourth, added three in the fifth, and held College of Charleston (10-6) off the board until the sixth to pick up its second win over the Cougars in the last four meetings. The Bucs pushed across nine runs on 12 hits.
Danny Wondrack (Wall, N.J.) went 3-for-4 with a double to pace the offense, as Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.) drove in his 11th run of the season. Dupree Hart (Rock Hill, S.C.), Bradley Dixon (Greenwood, S.C.), and Luke Stageberg (Greer, S.C.) each singled for the Cougars.
Trey Fields (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Brooks Lucas (Greenville, S.C.) pitched well in relief during the later innings, combining to allow one run on three hits over the final three and one-third.
Jason Miller led the way for Charleston Southern with a 2-for-4 effort, scoring three runs and driving in two more. Ryan Stoudemire launched a three-run homer, as Kyle Horton went3-for-5 with two RBI. Cam Weinberger tossed eight one-run innings to pick up his first win of the season, striking out four and scattering five hits. Jamison Hobbs tossed a scoreless ninth.
The Cougars return to the diamond on Friday when they open a three-game series against Furman. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Patriots Point.
