North Charleston Presents Operatic Children’s Theatre Performance April 4
The City of North Charleston’s Cultural Arts Department will offer another Children’s Theatre performance at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center from 10 am – 11 am on Thursday, April 4th. FBN Productions, Inc. will present the classic story of The Three Little Pigs with an operatic twist.
The program is best appreciated by students grades PreK-5. Schools, daycares, community groups, families, and individuals are welcome to attend. Tickets are $2 per child with accompanying adults admitted at no charge. Parking is free.
Using the familiar children’s story as a point of departure, writer John Davies transforms The Three Little Pigs into a comedic opera with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Despina the pig wants to build a house better than the straw and stick homes her brothers Giovanni and Cherubino have constructed, so she goes to the library and learns how to build a house of brick. How will each pig’s house stand up against Wolfgang Bigbad’s huffing and puffing?
FBN Productions, Inc. has been bringing together young professional opera singers and the best operas written for young audiences in mind throughout the Southeast since 1994. The group promotes music-drama as an expression of human experience by producing operas, offering annual touring performances, and co-sponsoring Carolina Opera Experience with Opera at USC.
