Immersive Theatre….In a Bathtub Coming to Charleston Area

“Broken Bone Bathtub,” an interactive solo performance piece that takes place in an actual bathtub, is coming to the Charleston area from April 5th to 7th. The show, which won the 2016 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Solo Performance, has been performed over 400 times, spanning more than 25 cities in five different countries.

The show is performed and created by Brooklyn-based writer, performer, activist, and award-winning playwright Siobhan O’Loughlin.

The show’s synopsis is as follows:

“After a serious bike accident, a young woman musters up the courage to ask for help. She shares her story, exploring themes of trauma, suffering, human generosity and connection. The audience takes on the role of Siobhan’s close friends through listening, sharing in their experiences, and assisting the cast-clad artist in the actual ritual of taking a bath.”

Here’s everything you need to know about the production:

• Each show will run 60-90 minutes
• It is suitable for adults, young adults, and teenagers
• There are six shows (exact locations will be announced later)
  • Friday, April 5 at 7 pm and 9 pm in Park Circle
  • Saturday, April 6th at at 7 pm and 9 pm in Hanahan (wheelchair accessible location)
  • Sunday, April 7th at 2 pm and 4 pm in Park Circle
• Each show takes place in a private residence, and hosts will provide light refreshments. Audience members are welcome to bring their own snacks and beverages for themselves or to share
