Charleston Outdoor Fest Takes Over James Island County Park This Weekend
The Charleston Outdoor Fest is set for Saturday, April 13th and Sunday the 14th at James Island County Park. This family-friendly event celebrates the paddlesports and outdoor recreation communities.
Celebrating nature’s playground, the Charleston Outdoor Fest features a multitude of outdoor recreation activities available for attendees to explore in a festival setting. Event attendees can try their hand at paddlesports like kayaking, canoeing, and stand up paddleboarding, in the calm waters of James Island County Park’s lake with boats and equipment available on site.
Plus, a variety of other outdoor recreational sports will be offered for all ages and abilities to take part in.
Experience a mountain biking course. Try out the sport of slack lining. Explore your inner Katniss Everdeen at the archery range. Scale the on-site climbing wall. Try out the park’s disc golf course. Equipment will be available and expert staff will be on hand to help everyone learn the ropes. Activities are open for all skill levels. Kids are invited to paddle across the lake during the annual cardboard canoe race on Sunday. Stand up paddleboarding yoga programs will take place throughout the weekend for ages 16 and up.
All of the excitement takes place within a fun festival atmosphere at James Island County Park. A vendor village will be on site with organizations and businesses showcasing a wide variety of products and services. Guests can also enjoy live music from local bands throughout the weekend, plus food and beverages will be available for purchase onsite.
Attendees can explore the park and its festivities free with regular park admission ($2 per person). To take part in the recreational activities, purchase a Try It Pass for $10. Children 12 and under are $8 with an accompanying adult pass. The Try It Pass offers full access to the paddlesports and other activities on site. Guests are encouraged to bring closed-toe shoes to participate in climbing or mountain biking, and shoes that can get wet and stay on your feet in the water for the paddling programs and activities.
