Itinerant Literate Books to Celebrate Indie Book Store Day with Specials, Discounts, Prizes, & More
Itinerant Literate Books in Park Circle invites the community to join them for Independent Bookstore Day, a one-day national party celebrating independent bookstores and the readers that support them. Their celebration will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 10 am to 11 pm.
Day-long events and Specials include:
- 20% Off All “Blind Date” Books
- Buy 5 Books, Get a Free Mystery Book (Dealer’s Choice)
- Facebook and Instagram Trivia Prizes
- Backyard Scavenger Hunt (for Kids)
- Book Nerd Olympics – Try your hand at Scrabble, Bananagrams, and more
- Crafts – Stripped Book Arts, Coloring Station, Black Out Poetry
- Shelf Talker Station: See a book you love and want to tell the world? Write a 2-3 sentence review and the store will feature it in the store with your picture
Scheduled highlights include:
- 11 am – Flash Fiction Workshop
- Learn the art of Flash Fiction – complete stories in less than 1,000 words – with local author Amy Hudock
- RSVP required
- 12 pm – Lowcountry Folklore & Folktales with Julian Gooding
- 1:30 pm – Tumbling Tale Story Time & Tumbling with Grassroots Gymnastics
- 3 pm – Mini Lectures
- Local scholars and experts will give quick lectures on literature and pop culture
- Dr. Licia Hendriks – “Poetic Justice: The Nexus of Art and Activism”
- Dr. Thomas Horan – “Desire & Empathy in Dystopian Fiction”
- 4 pm – Love Local Scavenger Hunt
- Meet at the Bookstop for the first clue; be the first team to find all the clues hidden at local Park Circle businesses and win a gift bag featuring local favorites from the neighborhood

- 8 pm – Fourth Annual StorySlam
- Itinerant Literate will host its Fourth Annual StorySlam, a local author live storytelling event
