Helena Fox Fine Art to Host New West Fraser Collection
Almost 20 years after the University of South Carolina published Charleston In My Time, West Fraser has once again turned his easel towards the city streets of Charleston.
To be fair, Mr. Fraser has continued to paint in around the city of Charleston, but the paintings have been few and far between. In this time of change, West has once again taken to the streets to document vanishing Charleston—from the city streets to the coastal marshes.
In this latest collection, West has taken his many years of painting en plein aire and returned to the studio in order to expand the size of his canvases. Helena Fox Fine Art will host this new collection, Southern City and Landscapes, starting with an opening reception during the May 3rd Charleston Gallery Association (CGA) Quarterly Art Walk (5 pm to 8 pm).
During the art walk, Fraser will be exhibiting several new street scenes which have been completed in the last year along with several new Lowcountry landscapes. New Southern landscapes from Julyan Davis will round out this exhibit.
Helena Fox Fine Art is located at 106-A Church Street.
