Local Business Celebrating Black Business in the Lowcountry with Annual Awards Ceremony
Exquisite Enterprises Inc. is celebrating black entrepreneurship in the Lowcountry with their annual event, The Exquisite Honors, which takes place on Thursday, July 25th, from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The ceremony will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in North Charleston and will be hosted by Salathia Graham of the Blackout Marketplace & Events, LLC. The event will feature musical entertainment, and guest speaker and published author, Cleo Scott Brown.
“Charleston was once known, many years ago, as a city big for it’s black entrepreneurship, all throughout the various parts of town,” Kimberly Bowman, owner of Exquisite Enterprises Inc., said. “Since then, many of those businesses have gone out of business, been sold, and faded away. With this new wave of entrepreneurship in the black community, within the past 5-8 years, we want to celebrate it and recognize a select few for their work.”
Exquisite Enterprises took nominations from the community for 25 black entrepreneurs and professionals to be recognized and honored at this year’s ceremony. They shared that each of the 25 “exhibit exceptional leadership qualities, and have diligently contributed to the citizens and communities of Charleston through their hard work.” Each honoree will receive a medal and certificate, as well as an opportunity to network among elite professionals in the Charleston area.
A few of the honorees for this year are: Quintin Washington of Quintin’s Closeups, Author & community leader Regina Duggins, Brae Richardson of Brae Richardson Events, Maurice Ray of Park Circle Creamery, and Candace Pringle of SC Buy Black Locally.
Tickets for attendees are $25, with light refreshments provided.
