Lowcountry Land Trust’s Annual Picnic to be held at Plum Hill Plantation Site

Published

on

On Saturday, April 27th, from 11 am to 3 pm, Drs. Ann and John Kulze and their family will host the Lowcountry Land Trust (LLT) Annual Picnic at Plum Hill Plantation. This property has been protected by the Land Trust since 1995 to preserve the natural habitats and historic values.

Plum Hill Plantation was once a part of Bluff Plantation, owned by the wealthiest rice planter in antebellum South Carolina, Nathaniel Heyward. The property remained in the Heyward family until the early 1900s. The current owners acquired the property in the late 1970s and have enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. Plum Hill Plantation was also one of the locations for the filming of the 1994 blockbuster Forrest Gump.

Tickets for the 2019 Annual Picnic include a catered lunch, local beverages, live music, kid entertainment, and self-guided tours of the  private plantation. This family-friendly event offers guests a chance to explore a Lowcountry Land Trust protected property and gain first-hand experience of the importance of land protection.

Tickets are available online at www.lowcountrylandtrust.org/news/events. The cost is $45 for adults, and children 12 and under are free.

The Plum Hill Plantation is located at 2979 Combahee Rd. in Yemassee, SC.
