Cougars Blitz No. 30 Coastal Carolina, 13-6

Danny Wondrack (Wall, N.J.) clubbed two home runs, Chris Graham (Leland, N.C.) went 4-for-5 with three RBI’s, and Zach Williams (Marietta, Ga.) battled through five strong innings of relief to lead the College of Charleston baseball team to a 13-6 come-from-behind victory over No. 30 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday evening.

The victory marks College of Charleston’s (24-13) 15th comeback win of the season, and secures the Cougars’ first season sweep of Coastal Carolina (23-14-1) since the 2015 campaign. Charleston pushed across 13 runs on a season-high 20 hits – including three home runs – as all nine members of the starting lineup reached safely via a base hit. The Cougars finished the night 7-of-16 with runners in scoringposition, and 7-of-15 with two outs. Spots seven through nine in the order accounted for nine of the Cougars’ 20 hits on the night.

Graham put together a career night with four hits, three runs scored, and three RBI’s. Wondrack launched two home runs in back-to-back at-bats to markhis fourth career multi-homer game. The senior catcher finished the night 3-for-6 with three RBI’s, and now ranks seventh all-time with 31 career bombs.

Bradley Dixon (Greenwood, S.C.) went 3-for-5 with an RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases. Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.) collected two hits – includinga two-run homer in the ninth for his 32nd career big fly – as Dupree Hart (Rock Hill, S.C.) added a two-run single. Luke Manzo (Marietta, Ga.) chipped in two hits with an RBI and a sac bunt, while Harrison Hawkins (Bishopville, S.C.) went 2-for-5with a run scored.

Tradd James (Sumter, S.C.) got the start and went three innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits and striking out one. Williams entered in reliefto start the fourth and surrendered two earned runs on three hits over five frames to earn the win. Nathan Ocker (Middletown, Pa.) fanned one in a scoreless ninth to seal the victory.

Cameron Pearcey went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the way for Coastal Carolina, as Cory Wood, Parker Chavers, Zach Bierman, and Mike Koening each plateda run as well. Bradley Riopelle reached twice and scored two runs.

Coastal starter Nick Parker tossed four solid innings for the Chanticleers, allowing one run on five hits and striking out three. Davie Inman was touchedfor two runs in the fifth, while Alaska Abney and Trevor Damron combined to surrender six runs – five earned – over the next one and two-thirds. Anthony Veneziano allowed four runs on six hits in the ninth.

The Cougars resume their road swing with a cross-country trek to Boston, Mass. this weekend to take on Northeastern in a crucial series in Colonial Athletic Association play. Firstpitch on Friday is set for 2:00 p.m.
