Earth Day Echoes in Summerville This Year

Published

on

Summerville Beautification Committee (SBC) and Keep Dorchester County Beautiful (KDCB) volunteers, with support from the Town of Summerville, Palmetto Pride, and many local partners, have organized Summerville’s first Earth Day Echoes Festival for Saturday April 27th in Azalea Park and Cuthbert Center. This free community day is full of art, fun, and earth friendly freebies for all!

Organizers have already started the conversation by announcing, on the Summerville Clean Team social media pages, an online Trash Tag Swag Bag challenge that is open all week.

On the 27th, volunteers will be at the park starting at 8 am. Anyone can come get supplies for a clean up near them or volunteer in Azalea Park.

Cuthbert Center will open at 10 am and remain open until 4 pm. The Summerville Youth City Council is recycling some cardboard into a recreation of Hutchinson Square that includes important info on commonly littered items. A variety of recycled craft and decoration ideas will also be on display. There will also be digital presentations on eco challenges and best practices. Additionally, Earth Day art created by local students will be featured!

From 1 pm to 5 pm festival goers can stroll through the park for a variety of freebies, fun, and eco-information. Activities include:

  • Curby the recycling robot
  • Recycling games
  • Interactive Displays and more
  • Plus, bring an old t-shirt and SBC volunteers will show you how to turn it into a reusable bag.

Join the conversation online and RSVP to Earth Day Echoes via Summerville Beautification Clean Team’s Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/419130365509197/
