Gullah Oyster Reef Re-nourishment Project Announced

The Local Pulse has shared the following information about an upcoming oyster reef re-nourishment project:
In cooperation with the community of Sol Legare, Concerned Citizens of Sol Legare, SC DNR, SCORE, Surfrider Foundation, and the Gullah Geehee Nation, the young firm known as Preserve The Gullah, a Community Development Corporation, presents the largest Oyster Reef Re-Nourishment Project of Gullah owned reefs on the east coast in modern history. There will be a celebration of the event on June 14th on Mosquito Beach Rd. beginning at 10 am. Participants will be actively taking part in the re-nourishment process, so dress accordingly and be prepared to get messy in the marsh.
The Folly Beach Farmers Market will have vendors attending to provide snacks and merch for the event and those who want to participate should sign up by contacting thefollybeachfarmersmarket@gmail.com
If you are curious about participating and want to learn more about oysters and the reef re-nourishment process, DNR will host a workshop at Folly Beach Farmers Market on May 20th from 5:30 pm to 6 pm. Sign up for this event is though the Folly Beach Farmers Market Facebook Page.
