Library Foundation of the Lowcountry to host Fundraising Gala in June
A NASA astronaut last summer visited the Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) and the visit was so popular that CCPL decided to bring him back for another visit. The library system wanted the astronaut to visit the tri-county area libraries, but it was not in their programming budget. However, with the help of The Library Foundation of the Lowcountry, and a unanimous board vote, children in those areas were able to meet the astronaut.
The Library Foundation of the Lowcountry says this example shows how they support the community-building efforts of local libraries in the tri-county region. The organization aims to expand the reach of library programs, bring creative solutions to literacy-promoting efforts, and encourage library staff to bring the latest ideas and newest technology to address Lowcountry issues.
The Library Foundation of the Lowcountry invites the community to celebrate the grand opening and completion of the Charleston County Public Library’s Wando Library at Carolina Park Library in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, June 8th. The organization will host a Fundraising Gale from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Guests are invited to learn more about the foundation and immerse themselves in an “interactive evening featuring your favorite books that will literally come to life.”
You’ll be able to tour the brand new state-of-the-art facility while enjoying heavy hors d’oeurves paired with your favorite books. A full premium bar, martinis, wine, champagne and signature cocktails paired with each food offering will be available throughout the library.
Tickets are available by visiting the foundation’s website: www.libraryfdn.org
