Cougar Bats Come Alive in 9-2 Win Over CSU

Ari Sechopoulos (Windsor, Ontario, Canada) collected three extra-base hits – including a home run – to highlight five multi-hit games for the College of Charleston baseball team in a 9-2 win over Charleston Southern on Tuesday evening.
The win snaps a three-game skid for College of Charleston (29-19) as the Cougars score six runs in the opening three innings. Charleston finished with nine runs on 16 hits including five for extra bags, and held Charleston Southern (17-31) to two runs on seven base knocks.
Sechopoulos set a new career-high with four hits, including two doubles and a solo home run, to pace the Cougars. Bradley Dixon (Greenwood, S.C.) and Danny Wondrack (Wall, N.J.) each collected three hits as Dupree Hart (Rock Hill, S.C.) added a two-run single in the third. Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.), Tanner Steffy (Chapin, S.C.) and Joey Mundy (Huntington, W.Va.) each drove in one run. Luke Manzo (Marietta,Ga.) drew three walks.
Tradd James (Sumter, S.C.) struck out three in three shutout innings to earn his second win of the season. Blake Robinson (Florence, S.C.) surrendered two runs on four hits in three frames, as Brooks Lucas (Greenville, S.C.) and Kris Kuhn (Summerville, S.C.) combined for four strikeouts in three perfect innings.
Max Ryerson accounted for all of Charleston Southern’s offense with a two-run homer in the sixth as Sam Trend-Beacom went 2-for-4. Ryan Stoudemire took the loss for the Bucs after allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits in two and two-thirds innings.
Charleston returns to the diamond on Friday when the Cougars open a critical three-games with Towson in Colonial Athletic Association play. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. at Patriots Point.
