Preservation South Carolina and Carroway + Rose Announce Partnership To Help Restore Trinity Episcopal Church

Preservation South Carolina, a Palmetto State 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the state’s historic structures, and Charleston-based Creative Arts Agency Carroway + Rose announced today the formation of a community partnership aimed at the restoration of Trinity Episcopal Church of Abbeville (www.restoretrinity.org) and other historic landmarks in the state.

Preservation South Carolina is working with Friends of Trinity Abbeville in order to raise the funds necessary to embark on a five-year, $3 million restoration, and Carroway + Rose will lend its time and talents to the project.

“We are thrilled to be a community partner with Carroway + Rose in this endeavor,” Mike Bedenbaugh, Executive Director at Preservation South Carolina, said. “Their dedication to our mission is inspiring, and we sincerely appreciate their willingness to help us save historic SC places that matter!”

“When I became aware of the work that Mike and his staff were doing to restore Trinity Episcopal Church, I knew I wanted our agency to be a part of it,” James Briggs, Owner and Creative Director at Carroway + Rose, said. “My mother’s family is from Abbeville, and the Church has been a favorite place of solace for me when I visited, from childhood through today.”

Meadors, Inc., of Charleston, has completed a comprehensive conditions assessment and outlined a phased restoration plan. Meadors, winner of multiple preservation awards from Preservation South Carolina, The Preservation Society, and the City of Charleston, will develop the scope of work and specifications for the restoration.
