Nexton, a 5,000-acre community under development in Summerville, announced plans for the grand opening of its Brighton Park Village Dog Park on Saturday, June 1st. To celebrate, Nexton will host its inaugural Trails & Tails public event from 9:30 am to noon to coincide with National Trails Day.

Activities during the event will include a group dog walk from the Brighton Park Village Swim Club pavilion to the new dog park, trail mix bar, hot dog food truck, and pets for adoption from Dorchester Paws. Woof Gang Bakery will also be on site with pet treats available for sale, with proceeds benefiting Dorchester Paws. Visitors can also get a free caricature with their dog.

“Fostering and facilitating a healthy and active lifestyle is an important part of Nexton’s foundation,” Cassie Cataline, marketing director for Nexton, said. “National Trails Day aligns with our community’s values, and this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our many walking trails that benefit both our residents and their furry friends.”

While both the Brighton Park Village Swim Club and Dog Park are reserved for residents of the Brighton Park Residential Association, the Trails & Trails event will be free and open to the public.

Attendees are asked to RSVP online here.
