Three-Run Ninth Completes Cougars’ Sweep of Delaware

NEWARK, Del. — Danny Wondrack (Wall, N.J.) laced an RBI double in a three-run ninth inning and Kris Kuhn (Summerville, S.C.) fanned two to earn his first collegiate save in a 5-2 sweep-clinching win for College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon.
With the victory, College of Charleston (36-19, 16-8 CAA) runs its win-streak to eight games and caps its fourth series sweep in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Cougars scored four of their five runs with two outs, and held Delaware (21-33, 9-15 CAA) to two runs on six hits.
Luke Manzo (Marietta, Ga.) and Tanner Steffy (Chapin, S.C.) each collected two hits and drove in one as Wondrack went 1-for-2 with an RBI double. Bradley Dixon (Greenwood, S.C.) plated a run in the ninth while Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.) and Jared Kirven (Lexington,S.C.) both recorded a double. Dupree Hart (Rock Hill, S.C.) pinch-ran in the ninth and stole his 40th base of the season.
Zach Williams (Marietta, Ga.) pitched into the sixth and allowed two runs on four hits while striking out one. Josh Price (Dillion, S.C.) tossed two and one-third scoreless frames to earn his seventh win of the season and Kuhn fanned two in a perfect ninth to collect his first career save.
Kevin Mohollen and Jack Goan each drove in a run for the Blue Hens as Zach Lesher went 2-for-4 with two singles. Joey Silan lasted seven innings allowing two runs on seven hits in a no-decision. Jack Dubecq took the loss after surrendering three unearned runs on three hits in one and two-thirds.
Charleston returns to the diamond on Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. as the second-seeded Cougars begin their run in the 2019 CAA Championship against the highest remaining seed following the conclusion of day one.
