East Cooper Community Outreach Launches 30-week Campaign for 30th Anniversary

East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) launched a 30-week campaign last week to celebrate 30 years of serving the community.

ECCO was founded as an emergency relief effort after the devastation from Hurricane Hugo and has since become a permanent resource in the community, serving more than 4,500 families from East of the Cooper and across the state of South Carolina. To celebrate this legacy, ECCO launched a 30-week celebration that will carry through Giving Tuesday on December 3rd, 2019.

“Many of our community members don’t know we are here or realize the extent of our services,” Stephanie Kelley, executive director of ECCO, said. “We want our neighbors to learn about this nonprofit in their backyard and what they can do to help their neighbors in need.”

ECCO has incorporated services like monthly fresh farmer’s markets and the Asset Development Program that have become immeasurably helpful to those in need.

Neighbors can learn about the organization and give a hand up—not a handout—to their community by getting involved as a community partner, volunteer or by donating.

“Our Life Ring Society is an incredible opportunity for individuals to give at a level that makes a significant impact,” Kelley said. “As we continue and improve our existing services, we would love to see more Life Ring members join us this year.”
