“That Summer Book Sale” Returns This Month
The Charleston Friends of the Library will host “That Summer Book Sale” from Friday, June 21st to Sunday, June 24th at the Charleston County Main Library branch on Calhoun Street. Admission is free.
During the sale, attendees will have more than 15,000 books, DVDs, and CDs, to choose from. Prices start at $1 for paperbacks and $3 for hardback books. Items include mysteries, romances, classics, children’s books, local histories, cookbooks and a variety of non-fiction topics. Children’s books start at just $0.50. Special pricing will be available on Sunday.
All proceeds raised at the book sale go directly to the Charleston County Public Library System. Last year’s annual sale raised more nearly $18,000.
Here is this year’s schedule:
- Friday, June 21st: 9 am – 5:30 pm
- Saturday, June 22nd: 9 am – 5:30 pm
- Sunday, June 23rd: 2 pm – 4 pm (special pricing will be available)
Friends of the Library members will be able to shop on Thursday evening from 5 pm – 7:30 pm. Members can join at the door.

The Charleston Friends of the Library, a nonprofit volunteer organization, raises money through book sales to help fund Library services, equipment, training, materials and public programming. The Friends collect and sort donated books for resale to raise money
