Press Release

Babs and Pete Ambrose have always lived with the land, worked the soil and waterways, bringing the Lowcountry’s bounty to residents and visitors alike. They are farmers, shrimpers, restauranteurs, and owners of the Ambrose Family Farms on Wadmalaw Island, along with Stono Market and the Tomato Shed Café on Johns Island, where they’ve offered farm-to-table cuisine since the late 80s.  On Saturday, June 22nd, they’ll generously open their Wadmalaw family home for the Lowcountry Land Trust 5th annual Farm-to-Table Supper.

Presented by the Ambrose Family Farm and Anderson Insurance Associates, the event features a meal sourced directly from their farm, local libations, and live music by Flatt City all set against the backdrop of the Ambrose’s beautiful Wadmalaw home.

One of their properties has been protected by a conservation easement with Lowcountry Land Trust since 1997.

“The Farm to Table supper gives us an opportunity to showcase the critical need for the protection of the Sea islands and their rich traditions,” Ashley Demosthenes, president & CEO, Lowcountry Land Trust, said. “Guests get a first-hand understanding of the beauty and bounty our local lands provide, while enjoying fellowship on a beautiful property and sharing a meal with the community.”

Tickets are available online here or by phone at 843-410-0672. The cost is $75 per ticket for adults and free of charge for children 12 and under. All event proceeds benefit the Lowcountry Land Trust and support their mission of preserving land throughout the Lowcountry, including the Sea Islands. This is a limited-seating event that sells out quickly, so be sure to register early.

Lowcountry Land Trust is a local land conservation organization and a 501©(3) nonprofit focused on protecting ecologically, agriculturally, and historically significant Lowcountry lands.
