Ballet Evolution Pro to Lead Career Discussion for Young Dancers in Charleston
The Ballet Academy of Charleston and author Mary Ann Claud are partnering to offer a summer choreography camp bringing Claud’s new young adult novel, Alex Dances, to life. The camp is called “Book to Ballet: Alex Dances Choreography Camp” and is geared to students between the ages of twelve to sixteen years old. It will take place from July 29th to August 2nd, 2019.
To preface what dancers can expect from the camp, Mary Ann Claud and the Ballet Academy of Charleston will be sharing Alex Dances at the Turning Pointe in West Ashley on Saturday, July 20th at 1:30 pm. Called “From Passion to Career,” the event will focus on how to turn passion for ballet into a professional career, as Alex does in the novel.
Local professional dancer (Ballet Evolution) and Ballet Academy of Charleston instructor, Sarah Bowdoin, will share what lies ahead as young dancers begin their journeys toward successful careers in ballet. By educating local dance students about the various paths to become a professional dancer, the event aims to inspire and support them in the pursuit of their dreams. Light snacks will be provided and the event is free to attend.
