CCPL Installing New Self-Check Kiosks at Several Branches
The Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) is debuting new self-check kiosks at several of its branches this week. These kiosks are part of CCPL’s continued efforts to enhance the patron experience and remove barriers.
“These new kiosks, which are becoming the standard in libraries throughout the country, increase efficiency and allow staff more time with our patrons, who are our highest priority,” said CCPL Executive Director Angela Craig. “This is just another way for us to better serve our patrons as we continue to evolve our libraries.”
The kiosks offer patrons a fast and convenient way to check out books, DVDs, blu-rays and more, as well as pay any fines associated with their account. To use a kiosk, patrons just need their library card (or card number) and the PIN number associated with their account.
Eight branches will receive kiosks this week, including:
- Village in Mount Pleasant
- McClellanville
- Poe/Sullivan’s Island
- Edisto
- West Ashley
- Folly Beach
- John L. Dart
- Cooper River Memorial
Kiosks were installed at the Mount Pleasant, Hurd/St. Andrews, Wando, Otranto Road, Dorchester Road, John’s Island and Main libraries in June. The kiosks at the St. Paul’s Hollywood Library will be installed in the new branch, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in early 2020. The scheduled installation dates are subject to change.
The funding for the kiosks is part of the overall $108.5 million referendum overwhelmingly approved by Charleston County residents in 2014. For more information, visit ccpl.org.
