Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center Reopens King Street Location
After a year of renovations, Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center last week reopened its King Street location to serve children and families in the Lowcountry. With this reopening, Dee Norton will, for the first time, have two fully operational Centers – one in downtown Charleston and another in Mount Pleasant.
The expansion and renovation were, in part, led by growth projections for Charleston and Berkeley counties that indicated the need for the Center to double its capacity over the next 20 years. With two Centers, Dee Norton now has the space to serve 3,000 children and families. As the community grows, so does the opportunity to protect and heal children from abuse and trauma.
In 2018, Dee Norton helped 1,486 children and trained 2,001 professionals. Dee Norton provides an array of best-practice services to children and their families when there is a concern for child abuse or trauma exposure. Services include: forensic interviews, mental health assessments, medial services, therapy services, parental assessments, multidisciplinary case coordination and advocacy. If you need immediate assistance or consultation, please call 843-723-3600. If it is an emergency, please call 911.
