Itinerant Literate Bookstop to Host Day-Long Party Celebrating Its First Birthday

Published

on

Itinerant Literate Books will celebrate the first anniversary of their Park Circle storefront, Itinerant Literate Bookstop, on Saturday, August 10th.

Beginning as a market pop-up bookshop in 2015, Itinerant Literate launched its retrofitted 1958 Yellowstone Trailer, in 2016, and opened its Park Circle storefront in July 2018. In celebration of the Bookstop’s first birthday, Itinerant Literate put together a day of crafts, live music, specials, and daylong bookish fun. Plus, the business will make a final push to raise funds for a new bookmobile.

“We are just over halfway to our goal of $7,500, with only $3,103 left to go,” Julia Turner, Itinerant Literate co-owner, said. “During our anniversary celebration, we’ll be sending all proceeds from the sales of our bookmobile enamel pins and $1 galleys directly to the bookmobile campaign. We think this is the final push we need to get us to our new vehicle on the road!”

One of the day’s highlights is the educators’ meetup, where teachers can trade classroom ideas, enjoy special publisher goodies, and receive information about ways Itinerant Literate can partner with their classroom or school. As August 10th is also Teacher Appreciation Day, educators will receive 15% off all purchases.

Additionally, Turner will lead a special “Paper & Poetry” workshop for kids, where attendees will learn to write haiku and create paper decorations. A session for younger children (ages 4 to 7) will run from 11 am to 12 pm, and an older group (8 and up) session will take place from 4 to 5 pm, culminating with the monthly Youth Open Mic from 5 to 6 pm.

Lastly, to show how thankful they are for their customers’ support, Itinerant Literate will unveil their new Customer Appreciation Program. There will be information on how you can join and its benefits available throughout the day.

“The community has been so supportive and welcoming since we moved into our brick-and-mortar store a year ago,” Christen Thompson, Itinerant Literate co-owner, said. “We hope to continue bringing literary magic to our corner of the world for many years to come.”
