SK8 Charleston hosts Back-to-School Bash/End-of-Summer Grind
The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s premier skate park, SK8 Charleston, will continue to host a variety of themed events at the park this fall. Events are open for skateboarders and those just wishing to spectate and enjoy the festivities.
Coming up on Monday, August 19th, SK8 Charleston will host its first Back to School Bash, the “End of Summer Grind” from 6 pm to 9 pm. The event includes live music from Lagoona, the dinner from the Rebel Taqueria Food Truck, and shaved ice from Sno Biz Charleston. A contest will also take place to see who can perform the longest grind along one of the park’s ledges.
The Back to School Bash is included with park admission to SK8 Charleston, which is $1 per person for spectators, or $3 to skate.
SK8 Charleston will host additional themed events throughout the fall, including a Ladies Night on September 23rd, the second annual Ghouls and Groms Halloween event on October 28th, an “Old School” Night on November 21st, and an Ugly Sweater Christmas Party on December 20th. All events will also feature a food truck, live music, and skate contest.
Owned and operated by the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission, SK8 Charleston is a regional-sized concrete skate park that spans over 32,000 square feet. The park, which opened in 2017, is located on the neck area of the Charleston peninsula at 1549 Oceanic Street. SK8 Charleston features an intermediate bowl, a pro bowl, a 200-foot-long snake run, and a 300-foot-long street course. The site also features a building offering a small skate shop, restrooms, concessions, and seating areas. SK8 Charleston is open each Wednesday through Monday for skateboarding, and on Tuesdays for BMX bikers.
