Fam’s Brewing Co. Brings Oktoberfest Back to James Island
On Saturday, September 21st, James Island brewery, Fam’s Brewing Co., will kick off the Oktoberfest season with their 3rd Hoptoberfest Party full of German beer, live music, games, and lederhosen. The event runs from 12 pm – 6:30 pm.At noon, the “mayor” of Fam’s Brewing Co. will keep with the Munich tradition and tap a firkin to officially start Oktoberfest. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy Oktoberfest beer in a limited edition, custom stein while listening to DJs and live music by the 9-piece Polka band from the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Guests can also compete in one of the many games including:
- Keg Bowling
- 10 kegs are stacked in a pyramid shape and then bowlers roll a keg down the lane to knock over as many kegs as possible. The bowler with the highest score wins
- Stein Hoisting
- A classic Oktoberfest game. The person who holds a full stein the longest wins
- Beer Balancing
- A wooden board hanging from rope is put in front of the competitor. The board has a hole in the center for a pint of beer. Using only the rope handles, the guest must try to get the pint up to their mouth and take a sip
