Tri-County School Supply Drive Wraps with “The Teacher’s Lounge” at Republic Garden & Lounge
A school supply drive for tri-county teachers will end on Monday, August 19th with “The Teacher’s Lounge,” a special event being held from 6 pm to 8 pm at Republic Garden & Lounge.
The two-hour event will feature a back-to-school celebration, live entertainment, happy hour, networking, and a school-supply distribution.
“Due to many educators across our state being faced with severe budget cuts and lack of funding to purchase necessary supplies, ‘The Teacher’s Lounge’ has been established,” Marvis J. President, event co-host, said. “In our efforts to alleviate this burdensome issue, we hope (the event) will be a source of relief in making a profound impact on educators, students, and their overall learning experience.”
Twenty-five (pre-registered) teachers will receive a bag stuffed with supplies to include: Hand soap/sanitizer Kleenex, Clorox wipes, dry erase markers, pencils, papers, and more.
Now until August 16th, the public can drop school supplies off at one the three locations:
- Laundry Matters, 51 Reid Street, Charleston, SC, 29403
- Ink & Ivy, 565 King Street, Charleston, SC, 29403
- Southern Imports Collison Center, 7127 Cross County Road, North Charleston, SC, 29418
Registration for Teacher’s Lounge is now opened at BTSTeachersLounge.eventbrite.com; for more information about the event and/or to donate school supplies, e-mail pr@tawanatee.com.
Republic Garden & Lounge is located at 462 King Street.
