Home Team BBQ To Host “SMOKED” Author on August 29th

Ed Randolph, chef and owner of New York-based Handsome Devil BBQ, set out to find the best barbecue spots the United States had to offer, and after many taste tests from South Carolina to California, Randolph favored Charleston’s own Home Team BBQ and Swig & Swine as two of the top ‘que destinations in the country!

The local restaurants are included in Randolph’s book, SMOKED: One Man’s Journey to Find Incredible Recipes, Standout Pitmasters and the Stories Behind Them, which hit stands in early May and has since been named one of Texas Monthly’s Best New Barbecue Books of 2019.

To celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated book, all are invited to join Randolph on Thursday, August 29th, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at Home Team BBQ Downtown (126 Williman St.) for a night full of storytelling, barbecue bites, and live music provided by the Kenny George Band.

Guests will enjoy a taste of “SMOKED” via recipes by Swig & Swine owner and pitmaster Anthony DiBernardo and Home Team BBQ operating partner and chef Aaron Siegel, as they offer complimentary samples of Smoked Pork Belly with Charred Corn, Tomato, Boiled Peanut Salad and Beef Ribs with Adobo and Charred Corn Esquites, respectively.

Furthermore, Randolph will be offering samples of his take on St. Louis-style Ribs featuring Handsome Devil BBQ rub. Please note that light bites will be limited, and attendees are encouraged to come sooner rather than later to get their hands on some grub.

Finally, Randolph will be signing copies of “SMOKED” all night long, so bring your copy or purchase the book at the event for $25, cash only.
