Charleston Arts Festival Announces Dates, Mission for 2019

Published

on

The fourth edition of the Charleston Arts Festival, which features area creatives working across artistic genres like music, dance, visual arts, and drama to create a multi-week festival at venues across the Lowcountry, will take place from September 4th through November 12th, 2019.

Founded by Andrew Walker and Terry Fox in 2016 as an amplification of Walker’s successful JAIL BREAK series, the Charleston Arts Festival (CAF) strives to highlight the best and the brightest of “all things creative” in Charleston and the Lowcountry in the diverse disciplines of visual art, dance, music, comedy, culinary, film, and drama. As it launches its ambitious fourth season of creative offerings, CAF will also blend its core mission with ongoing philanthropic efforts in support of local and international non-profits.

This season’s productions will include a large scale arts collaboration with Charleston magazine at Redux Contemporary Arts Center, CAF’s annual CONCOCTION music extravaganza at the Royal American, its first-ever theatre package in conjunction with three of the city’s premier local companies, a fundraising event to benefit I Heart Hungry Kids, and two PechaKucha events.

One of the festival’s most exciting pieces of programming will be its partnership with Umphrey’s McGee and Friends With Benefits Productions for presentation of the inaugural Woodlands Fall Music & Arts Festival in early November. Additional programming is being developed.
