Leftovers: Tidbits from the Food & Bev Community (10/2/19)
I created the “Leftovers” series to ensure I could share as much food and bev news as possible, so here’s the latest:
- Every Tuesday night, Purlieu is now doing a Chicken Parm Night. Chef Jeff Williams has made Chicken Parmesan on Sunday nights for his family for years, and when he and Chef Zucker started discussing a great neighborhood option to add one night a week, they landed on this delicious dish. Their version (right) has two Parmesan panko breaded chicken breasts with prosciutto, whole basil leaves, yellow tomato marinara, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese, served over Parisian gnocchi.
– - Pink Cactus is launching a new lunch special that will be available Tuesday through Friday from 11 am to 3 pm. During that time, diners can enjoy a $12 lunch plate that includes the guest’s choice of two tacos, beans, rice and choice of Agua Fresca, a traditional Mexican beverage.
–
Standout tacos include the cauliflower taco with papenteca sauce, the barbacoa taco with braised beef and arbol rojo, and the fish taco with the day’s local catch and mango – the menu offers a total of seven different varieties to choose from. Guests typically have their choice of two different Agua Frescas as well, including the recent Flor de Jamaica hibiscus agua fresca and the Agua de Mango with mango juice and chia seeds.
–
In addition, Pink Cactus is now hosting live music on their patio Thursday and Sunday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Guests can enjoy authentic Latin tunes from Hector Salazar and Gregory Guay of the band Caja de Cuerdas every week on Spring Street.
– - On October 8th, Charleston Grill invites guests to discover unexpected wine styles from Bordeaux and Germany. While diners indulge in Executive Chef Michelle Weaver’s world-class menu, Advanced Sommelier Rick Rubel will be pouring complimentary tastings* from The Grill’s award-winning wine list. In addition, a Black Truffle Foie Gras Terrine with a Mönchhof Riesling Kabinett gelée will make its debut on the menu, which pairs perfectly with the featured wines.
–
*Complimentary tastings are available to those who purchase an entrée at Charleston Grill. Mention the event to your server and/or hostess. Reservations required.
