Local Nonprofit Collecting Halloween Costumes for Disadvantaged Kids

Published

on

Going Places is in it’s 2nd year providing donated, “gently-used” or “new” Halloween costumes, accessories, and trick-or-treat bags to low-income kids whose families cannot afford to buy them one, and you are invited to participate in the “give a costume. give joy.” program.

Going Places will go into three North Charleston Elementary schools on Halloween and allow any kids not in costume, to pick one out.

Want to help? Costumes may be donated at donation drop boxes at:

  • Wonder Works (Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley)
  • Planet Fitness (Citadel Mall, Mt. Pleasant)
  • Charleston Taekwondo (both Mt Pleasant locations)
  • Corrective Chiropractic
  • Jon Smith Subs
  • Sojourn Coffee
  • Biggby Coffee
  • My Three Sons of Charleston
  • F45 (Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley)
  • South State Bank (N. Charleston)
  • Skip and Sully’s
  • Captain’s Comics
  • The Spine Institute

Clean costumes are needed in sizes 4-years-old to adult (ADULT-SIZED COSTUMES are in great need- many of the
5th graders in these schools are adult-sized). No street clothes, only Halloween costumes. No inappropriate costumes. No weapon accessories. Masks are ok.

Going Places is looking for volunteers to help sort and hang donated costumes as well come help at the schools on Halloween. Interested parties can sign up to volunteer on Going Places’ website: https://www.goingplacesnonprofit.org/volunteer. For more information, e-mail katie@goingplacesnonprofit.org
