Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry Opens New Temporary Exhibit “Velocity: Exploring the Science of Motion”
The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry (CML) will present Velocity: Exploring the Science of Motion, a temporary exhibit helping children explore the science of motion. Velocity is on display now through January 27th, 2020.
“As leaders in early childhood education, the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry understands that the most successful method for presenting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to young learners is through hands-on, play-based activities,” says Nichole Myles, executive director of the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry. “We’re so excited to bring Velocity to families in the tri-county area.”
Velocity features five distinct activities where children and families experiment with momentum, friction, gravity, acceleration, speed and distance. Families can roll and race golf balls on tracks, loops and hills; design their own freestyle ramp, track or jump; and experiment with three unique launching machines that make the drop of a golf ball different every time. Velocity utilizes data visualization software to capture participant’s multiple test runs and compare results.
