Charleston Parks Conservancy Adds Staff, Announces Promotions

The Charleston Parks Conservancy has added several new staff to its growing team and promoted some existing staff members. 

Samantha Scott has joined the Conservancy team as special events and corporate relations manager. She leads planning for the Conservancy’s annual fundraisers, including Party for the Parks, Shucked & Sauced and other events. In addition, Scott works with sponsoring organizations around Charleston to support and partner on projects and funding. Prior to joining the Conservancy, Scott was part of the special events and development team at the Columbia Museum of Art.

Meg Moore has been hired as the Conservancy’s community garden specialist. Before coming to the Conservancy, Moore started her own small farm, called Dirthugger, where she invited neighbors, volunteers and school groups to the farm to educate them about the importance of growing and buying locally. Moore also founded The Sunday Brunch Farmers Market. At the Conservancy, she will oversee the community gardens, working with gardeners and volunteers.

Kayla Huff joined the Conservancy as volunteer coordinator where she assists the volunteer manager in supporting the Park Angel volunteer program and community events. Prior to joining the Conservancy, Huff served in AmeriCorps’ Volunteer Infrastructure Program with a small nonprofit in San Luis Obispo, California, where she really found her passion of working with volunteers and connecting them with the outdoors.

Ellie Tiller is serving as interim director of development and communications. She  comes to the Conservancy with 14 years of fundraising experience in the Charleston area and has worked at several nonprofits, including the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry, the Lowcountry Land Trust and Historic Charleston Foundation. In 2017, she started her own consulting business, E. Tiller Advisors, and has been consulting with local nonprofits to maximize successful fundraising strategies.

Rachel Barry, who joined the Conservancy in 2017, has been promoted to volunteer manager. She coordinates all aspects of volunteer opportunities for the Conservancy’s Park Angel volunteer force.

Leslie Wade was promoted to community programs director, overseeing the Conservancy’s community gardens program and outreach events. She has been with the Conservancy since 2014.

Stephanie Lee, who joined the Conservancy team in 2017, has a new title as donor relations manager. Lee manages the Conservancy’s annual fund donor programs, including The Perennials and bench adoption program.

For more than 10 years, the Conservancy — through public-private partnerships — has had a hand in renovating and beautifying more than 25 parks in the City of Charleston. Notable projects include the complete renovation of Colonial Lake, the renovation of the Rose Pavilion at Hampton Park as well as Allan Park, Wragg Square, McMahon Playground at Hampton Park, Magnolia Park and Community Garden, Marion Square, and Medway Park and Community Garden.
