Home Team BBQ will Once Again Rock the Block for Charity
Home Team BBQ will present Rock the Block, the third annual blowout block party benefiting Hogs for the Cause. The free-to-attend, family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, February 22nd, and includes food, drink, music, and more in support of the fight against pediatric brain cancer.
From 11 am to 6 pm, festival-goers can expect a variety of eats from Home Team BBQ, acclaimed pitmasters Jonathan and Justin Fox of Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q (Atlanta), chef Eddie Hernandez and Mike Klank of Taqueria del Sol (Atlanta), in conjunction with Brandon Rushing from Ella and Ollie’s (Edisto Island), as well as local talents Shuai and Corrie Wang of Jackrabbit Filly, Jeremiah Bacon of The Macintosh and Oak Steakhouse, and Matt Niessner of Halls Chophouse. Drinks will be available for purchase at bar stations on the street, as well as in the restaurant, which will be open for regular business throughout the day.
Live entertainment will be provided with performances from South Carolina’s Kenny George Band, Atlanta-based Moontower, and renowned headliner Paul Cauthen. Attendees may also try their luck and purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win a variety of fun prizes like a Big Green Egg grill. Lastly, a kids’ zone inflatable bounce house will be installed onsite as families are encouraged to attend. Admittance to Rock the Block is free to the public, but donations will be appreciated at the entrance or any point of sale.

Proceeds from Rock the Block 2020 will benefit Hogs for the Cause, a non-profit organization that helps alleviate the emotional and financial strain experienced by children and their families during the fight against pediatric cancer. The event serves as the premier fundraiser for Home Team’s support of Hogs for the Cause, in addition to multiple pop-up events at the restaurant, limited-time special menu items, and the restaurant’s “Round Up” campaign.
Home Team proudly donated $56,000 to Hogs for the Cause in 2019 alone, with a huge portion of that coming directly from last year’s Rock the Block, which has encouraged higher goals for this year’s event, as well as plans for larger grants to be allocated to Charleston-based families. Thanks in part to Home Team BBQ’s fundraising efforts, $75,000 has been donated by the Hogs for the Cause organization in the last year to invest in the continued care Medical University of South Carolina provides for Charleston families. All of this was made possible by eventgoers, restaurant guests’ donations, generous sponsors and the outpour of support from the community.
“We’re beyond thrilled to join the Charleston community for our third annual Rock the Block,” owner and chef/pitmaster Aaron Siegel. said “Since 2014, we’ve been contributing to Hogs for the Cause, but we’re really looking to take it up a notch this year. We look forward to a day of food, fellowship and fun, and think we can blow our donation goals out of the water with everyone’s help!”
