Buxton Books to Host “Wine & Words” with Local Author
Charleston-based lawyer and author E. Vernon F. Glenn is excited to announce a “Wine & Words” event at Buxton Books on Thursday, January 16th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. He will visit the bookstore to read from and discuss his novel, Friday Calls, a thriller based on true crime events he experienced throughout his life and career in law.
Linda Brinson, writer for The Greensboro News & Record, said the following about the book:
“Friday Calls is subtitled ‘A Southern Novel,’ and that it is — a fine, lively tale of a 20th-century medium-size, largely segregated city where money talks and a lot goes on under the veneer of propriety and gentility.
Glenn, who grew up in Winston-Salem, went to the University of North Carolina and Wake Forest law school and practiced criminal law in Winston-Salem early in his career, obviously knows his subject matter well, not only in the city’s two disparate worlds but also in the courthouse, one of the places they overlap. He knows how people on both sides of town operate, and when he writes dialogue, you can hear them talking.”
Guests are invited to come out and enjoy an evening of literature, good conversation, and complimentary beverages from Epiphany Wines.
Glenn has been a practicing litigator for 40 years and has seen many things throughout his career. Much of his writing inspiration comes from cases he’s represented in the courtroom. This is his first novel, and he is in the process of writing his second. He currently resides in Mt. Pleasant.
Friday Calls is available for purchase through BuxtonBooks ahead of the event for $24.95. The event is free to attend. Click here for more info.
