39th Asbury Short Film Concert Returns to the Charleston Music Hall in January
Asbury Shorts, New York’s longest running short film exhibition returns to the Holy City on Thursday, January 16th, 2020 to present their nationally recognized: “39th Short Film Concert” at the Charleston Music Hall at 7 pm. The show is recommended for ages 16 and above. Holy City Sinner is thrilled to once again partner with the event, as founder/editor Christian Senger will return as this year’s guest host.
Asbury Shorts USA combines classic shorts with new global festival honorees creating a rare opportunity to see world-class shorts on a real cinema screen rather than YouTube or smart phones. The January 16th lineup will feature a mix of US festival “Best of Show” winners and international honorees. Director Jason Reitman (JUNO, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking and Young Adult) calls Asbury Shorts: “The best short film show I’ve ever seen.”
Highlights include: “The Caption” – the story of a frustrated cartoon caption writer whose submissions are constantly rejected by a famous New York magazine straining his health and marriage. Nick Miller and Jonny Zwick of Los Angeles are the co-directors of this smart comedy. Director Amy Nicholson’s multi festival award winning documentary “Pickle,” which examines the complicated relationships humans have with their pets in a film of unexpected warmth and mirth. There will be ten globally honored shorts in total in the two-act program.
Asbury Shorts concerts have been presented at: Guild Hall in East Hampton, N.Y., The Vero Beach Museum of Art in Florida; Dante Hall in Atlantic City, N.J, Summer Stage in Central Park, The Director’s Guild Theater in Manhattan, The AERO Theatre in Santa Monica, CA, Royal Festival Hall in London, UK, The Osprey Arts Center in Nova Scotia, Canada and the Leminske Theater in Berlin, Germany to name a few of the prestigious venues where audiences have enjoyed these amazing films.
