Local Ballet School Offers First Adult Ballet Summer Intensive in Charleston

Catering to an ever growing number of adult ballet students, Ballet Academy of Charleston will offer two one-week long intensives for adults this summer. 

There will be two levels, one for beginners/lower intermediate, and one for advanced/upper intermediate. Both intensives will be available as either half day (9am-12pm) or full day (9am-4pm) and will cover technique, repertoire, pointe, yoga/pilates, jazz, and modern.

To assist out-of-town dancers with accommodations, Ballet Academy of Charleston partnered with local hotels which offer special rates to those attending either intensive.

“We are very excited to be offering this unique opportunity for adult dancers”, says Corina Fimian, owner/director of the West Ashley ballet school. “Our studio already has a large number of adult students, so it only made sense that we’re the ones taking it a step further.”

According to the organization, no other local studio has ever offered a summer intensive for adults in Charleston. Ballet Academy of Charleston wants to provide the opportunity and would be honored to make it an annual tradition for Charleston.

Ballet Academy of Charleston has been offering classical ballet for children and adults for 27 years. Conveniently located in West Ashley, the studio has two dance floors, both equipped with state-of-the art sprung floors.
