Lowcountry Hospitality Association to Host Region’s Largest Hospitality-Only Job Fair
Press Release
The Lowcountry Hospitality Association (LHA) is pleased to announce the region’s largest hospitality-only job fair, taking place Wednesday, February 26th at the Charleston Area Convention Center. LHA’s mission is to support business interests common to both lodging and foodservice establishments in the tri-county area, including advocacy and workforce development.
“We are fortunate to live in one of the most popular destinations in the world,” said LHA board member Tommy Hall, owner and general manager of Halls Chophouse. “This event is a unique opportunity for people to learn about the exciting jobs and careers available with some of the most impressive hospitality-related businesses in the industry.”
Over 60 employers from the hotel and the food and beverage industries will be represented, with business locations from Summerville to Isle of Palms. Job openings for all skill levels will be available, including part-time and full-time positions. Examples of openings include fine and casual dining server, leisure sales coordinator, concierge floor attendant and kitchen manager. Employers such as Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina, the Tides Folly Beach, Taco Boy and Charleston Grill look forward to meeting with prospective employees.
“Jobs in the travel industry allow individuals the flexibility to gain experience, prepare for higher education, pursue career advancement within the industry and develop transferable skills,” added Michelle Woodhull, LHA board member and president of Charming Inns and Circa 1886 Restaurant. “In fact, 4 out of 10 Americans start their career in this industry. There has never been a better time to explore opportunities in travel and hospitality.”
Employee resources will also be on-site such as CARTA, Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, Ben’s Friends and the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department.
LHA’s Job Fair will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Charleston Area Convention Center, Salon B, located at 5000 Coliseum Dr, North Charleston. Admission to the event is free and open to the public. For more information, follow LHA on Twitter and Facebook, or visit chshospitalityworks.com.
